CCC - IMPORTANT: Tropical Storm Elsa

CCC - IMPORTANT: Tropical Storm Elsa
Monday, July 5th
Dear Carrollwood Country Club Members,
As I am sure you know, the Tampa Bay area is expecting a visit from Tropical Storm Elsa later Tuesday and into Wednesday. The National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for the West Coast of Florida, including Tampa Bay and surrounding areas. We will be on the East side of the storm, which produces the most wind, storm surge, and rain. Locally heavy downpours are anticipated, with most projections for our area indicating winds up to 65 MPH and rainfall of 4 inches. The brunt of the storm is forecast to hit the Tampa area mid evening tomorrow but we will begin to feel the effects of the outer bands mid afternoon.
We are beginning our process for storm preparedness this afternoon by removing lounge chairs and taking down windscreens at the Tennis and Aquatics Center, removing the patio furniture from the Terrace, and prepping any other exposed areas for windy conditions.
At this time, we are planning to open tomorrow morning (Tuesday) as normal and monitor the progress of the storm throughout the day. Once we have decided that projected deteriorating conditions warrant, in the interest of both Members and employee’s safety, we will close the Club for the remainder of the day Tuesday and on into Wednesday morning. We will continue to update these plans as events unfold.
Thank you for your understanding and support and please stay safe.
Sincerely,
Bob Foster, PGA
