Swimming Pool Update

Dear CCC Members,

We would like to take just a moment to address some of your concerns regarding the pool and its temporary closure.

First and foremost, since we discovered the pump failure, we have worked tirelessly to find solutions and retain quotes to either repair or replace the pump.  The pool company was actually very quick to arrive on the Saturday when the failure was discovered and did pull the pump apart that day.

They informed us that there might be a chance that it could be repaired, but more than likely it would need to be replaced.  They began soliciting for quotes from various suppliers and manufacturers the Monday following.  We were also informed during this time that finding parts to possibly repair this pump was problematic, as the model of the pump we had had been discontinued many years ago.  As our pump company has continued to solicit vendors and manufacturers, the only option we have been presented to date is a thirty-day lead time before fabrication can begin.

If the company were to try to change the pump room configuration this could involve making the pool conform to current code which has been changed twice since our pool was built.  This could involve many more changes to the entire complex rather than just a new pump.

We have called all of the area pools to secure a pool for our Members to utilize during this time but we have had no success.  We are continuing our efforts; however, this is proving challenging as many area pools have no heaters or lighting needed with the time change and are closing for the Winter.

While we do understand the frustration, we wanted to communicate to you that we have signed the contract for the new pump and are hoping to have it installed within the thirty-day lead time.

We hope you understand that we are doing everything within our power to get this pump installed and the pool reopened as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Bob Forster
