McKenna Smith Takes July SOM Honors
The Carrollwood Village Swim Team has named McKenna Smith as the August Swimmer of the Month. At the Florida Swimming Area 3 Championships, the eleven-year-old Senior 2 practice group swimmer raced to 8 personal best times out of 8 events. McKenna’s averaged an improvement of 6.24% for each of her swims. After tying for the July Swimmer of the Month, McKenna demonstrated persistent improvement in all of her events with a high of 8.57% and a 6.39 second drop in her 100 yard Freestyle (1:08.20) to her smallest improvement 2.94% and a .92 second drop in her 50 yard Freestyle (30.41). McKenna’s largest time drop occurred in her 500-yard freestyle where she dropped 27.56 seconds (6:48.49). McKenna also swam to best times in her 200-yard freestyle (2:32.48) a 9.14 second drop, 50-yard backstroke (36.18) a 1.67 second improvement, 100-yard Backstroke (1:22.54) a 4.89 second drop, and the 100-yard Individual Medley (1:20.47) with an 11.52 second drop.
