For the first time ever, the Carrollwood Village Swim Team has a tie for the Swimmer of the Month. In a scoring system that out of 42 swimmers, awarded 42 points for first place and 1 point for last place weighted with 50% of points earned off of the number of personal best times, 25% earned off of the percentage of best times, and 25% of points earned off of the average percentage of time dropped, both Maddie Polk (10) and Mckenna Smith (10) tied with 137 points. Maddie tied with last month’s SOM, Kylie Coles (9) for the team lead with 30 personal best times swimming in five meets, while McKenna swimming in just three meets was third in personal best times with 24. Mckenna Smith led the team in percent of best times with 95% by racing to an amazing 21 out of 22 personal best times with two first time swims. For the average time dropped, Mckenna outscored Maddie 8.79% to 7.70% for the tie.
Both swimmers had an incredible month with numerous best times. Maddie’s largest time drop occurred at the Tampa Bay Swim Classic where she bettered her best time by 41.26 seconds in the 10&Under Girls 200meter Individual Medley. Her greatest percentage of time drop came in Largo at the West Florida Lightning Invite in the 100meter backstroke where she improved 22.73%. McKenna’s largest time drop also occurred at the Tampa Bay Swim Classic in the 200meter Individual Medley where she dropped 55.39 seconds. Her greatest percentage time drop was and even 23% in the 50meter Butterfly also at the Tampa Bay Swim Classic.
