CVST Athletes Recognize Years of Service By John Ware

CVST Athletes Recognize Years of Service byJohn Ware

Last night at the October CVST Friday Night at the Races swim meet, the CVST Athletes recognized the many years of service to Florida Swimming and especially to CVST, by John Ware

The criteria for the award is as follows:

The recipient must have made a significant contribution to the CVST Program before being considered for the award.  Nominees for the award will be submitted to the Head Coach by a specified deadline each year with a brief description stating why they are deserving of this honor.  The Coaching Staff and Team Captains will narrow the list of Nominees down to a maximum of four (Nominations may be made by any Senior 1 Athlete or Coach Member of the Team).  The four nominees will be presented in ballot form to the CVST Senior 1 Members for the final vote.  This award is not necessarily presented every year.  These criteria may be amended at any time by the CVST Senior 1 Practice Group with the approval of the Head Coach.

Prior to the start of the meet, CVST Team Captain, Meredith Seibold, took the mic and made the following presentsation:

CVST Coach Jim Kelly has been with the Carrollwood Village Swim Team for 31 years, Coach Randy Johnson for 27 years and Coach Bill Schaffer from Academy swam for CVST over 30 years ago.  The one common thread through all these years has been Mr. John Ware.

When Coach Jim came to the team, prior to computers being common, Mr. Waretook care of everything from Team Records to Meet Entries.  He was a “Computer Wiz” before computers were common, and he’s still doing CVST’s meets to this day.

So a grateful group of swimmers past and present from CVST, and for that matter across the State are appreciative for all you do!

On behalf of the Swimmers of CVST, I would like to present you with this year’s CVST Athlete Appreciation Award.  The award reads as follows:

“Athlete Appreciation Award, Presented to John Ware
For Commitment, Dedication, Friendship, Service, and Support Given to the Athletes
of the Carrollwood Village Swim Team.”
