CVST Holiday Letter From Coach Jim

Dear CVST,
Once again that favorite time of year is approaching and the Holidays are almost upon us! I hope everyone had a great Halloween another of my favorites, and with the passing of Halloween it means that our Turkey Training (Thanksgiving Week) and Thanksgiving itself, are coming up quickly! Also during the holidays comes MY favorite time of the year... “MYSTERY WEEK!!!!” If you've had the opportunity to see the Hillsborough County Schools 2016-2017 Calendar, you have probably already figured out that this year, "MYSTERY WEEK" will run December 26th thru January 2nd, about the same as last year. The Senior 1 Group will also have practices the week before Christmas, in Chicago, while the rest of the team takes their Holiday Break. The regular practice schedule will resume on Tuesday, January 3rd, for all Practice Groups. The “MYSTERY WEEK” schedule with all the practice times is now available on the CVST website under the Calendars Link at the top of the home page. It is also attached to this letter.
For those of you who don't know what "MYSTERY WEEK" is, it is the time of year where only the toughest survive! It is the LAW OF THE JUNGLE, THE SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST!!! If you dare to take the challenge and successfully complete the "WEEK," without missing ANY practices or parts of any practices (this includes Saturdays & Sundays), you will receive the World Renown and Famous "CVST MYSTERY WEEK T-SHIRT," which is to be proudly worn by those few that do survive the "WEEK." We hope to see you all proudly wearing a “MYSTERY WEEK” t-shirt in 2017! Even if you can’t make all of Mystery Week, you are still strongly encouraged to make all of the practices you can, as this is some of the best and most important training of the year. If you would like more information on "MYSTERY WEEK," just see your Coach.
On top of “MYSYERY WEEK”, November & December are also pretty busy months for CVST. We have a bunch of things coming up, just look at the following list:
November 11 - CVST November Friday Night at the Races (Warm-up 4:00pm / Start 5:00pm)
November 19-20 - SPA Meet (Silver, Gold & Senior 2 Groups Only)
November 21-27 - Turkey Training & Thanksgiving Break
November 30 - The CVST B-Championship Team Dinner (w/CCC Italian Night)
December 2 - The CVST B-Championship Team Practice
December 3-4 - Florida Swimming B State Championships at Northshore Pool (St. Petesrsburg)
December 11-18 - CVST/Five Below Spirit Week Fundraiser (at Five Below)
December 16 - CVST Swimmer Holiday Party (at the Pool)
Swimmers, you need to keep an eye out for more information on your Holiday Party and start looking for that “Ugly Holiday Sweater” that will win the contest this year.
Also, coming up the week before “MYSTERY WEEK”, from December 17th to the 25th, the Senior 2, Gold, Silver & Bronze Groups have their Holiday Break and as mentioned earlier, the Senior 1 Group has some Special Holiday Training that week in the Windy City of Chicago.
