"Let's End the Early Sport Specialization Madness"

With the recent release of the American Academy of Pediatrics' guidelines and recommendations on youth sports, once again early specialization is back in the news. And not for good reasons. The new report points to the much higher risk of injury, burnout, and lower activity rates throughout the lifetime of athletes who specialize in a single sport too young, and suggests physicians do more to educate parents and athletes before it is too late. 

Isn't it time to end the madness? 

Isn't it time to focus on the child in the sport, and not the business of sport?
