CVST Code of Conduct / Honor Code
All team members, team staff, and parents of minors are apprised in writing of this Code of Conduct, the attached USA Swimming Code of Conduct and the attached Florida Swimming Code of Conduct through the CVST Team Handbook. These codes are in effect throughout all swimmers membership with the Carrollwood Village Swim Team. Some of the items refer specifically to team travel, but are in no way limited to travel alone. CVST Membership constitutes unconditional agreement to comply with the stipulations of all three documents.

All Swimmers will maintain a positive mental attitude in regard to practice, meets and the team, and never interfere with the progress of another swimmer, during practice or otherwise.

Team members will display proper respect and sportsmanship toward coaches, officials, administrators, teammates, fellow competitors and the public at all times.

Team members and staff will refrain from any illegal or inappropriate behavior that would detract from a positive image of the team or be detrimental to its performance objectives.

The possession or use of alcohol or tobacco products by any athlete is prohibited.

The possession, use, or sale/distribution of any controlled or illegal substance or any form of weapon is strictly forbidden.

Team members are reminded that when competing in meets, traveling on trips, and attending other meet-related functions, they are representing both themselves and the CVST program. Athlete behavior must positively reflect the high standards of the Carrollwood Village Swim Team.

Be a contributive member of the team and make every effort to maintain a good rapport with fellow team mates.

Adhere to the requirements of all CVST Attendance Policies to the best of one’s ability and in the case of a conflict, communicate with the coaching staff prior to the practice or practices affected.

Swimmers are to refrain from inappropriate physical contact at team activities and events.

Swimmers are to refrain from use of inappropriate language.

No “deck” changes are permitted. Athletes are expected to use available change facilities.

All members of CVST shall continue to protect and improve the excellent reputation the team has throughout the state and country.

Failure to comply with the Honor Code as set forth in this document may result in disciplinary action. Such discipline may include, but may not be limited to:

If on a team trip, dismissal from the trip and immediate return home at the athlete’s expense

If at a meet, disqualification from one or more events, or all events of competition

Disqualification from future team travel meets

Financial penalties
-
Probation periods with the team

Suspension or dismissal from the team

Proceedings for a LSC, Zone or USA Swimming Board of Review

If a swimmer has any problems or disagreements with the CVST Program, He/She will relate them to the Coaching Staff in order that they will not become a negative influence on oneself or one's team mates.
As a member of the Carrollwood Village Swim Team, a swimmer must fully realize the responsibility of their commitment to the team and to the adherence of the above Code of Conduct. The swimmer must also understand that any violation of this Code of Conduct is grounds for suspension and/or dismissal from the team.
