Repak Leads CVST with High Point at FSU
 
In the Mac Crutchfield Invitational at Florida State University, 18 of Carrollwood Village Swim Team’s athletes achieved new personal best times, put some new FLAGS cuts under their belts, and even picked up an Individual High Point Award. Between prelims and finals these athletes showed off how hard their winter training paid off.
 
Friday began with Kaitlyn Labella (9) dropping near 7 seconds in a blazing 200 freestyle to go a best time of 2:28.15. Following Labella was Sean Kenny (10) with a massive 12.51 second drop to go a time of 2:39.25. Jayden Repak (8) also had a quick 200 dropping 19 seconds to go a best time of 2:51.89. Jayden’s swims earned him the Individual High Point Award for his age group. Later on Abby Forman (13) dropped close to 7 seconds in the 500 free to go a wicked fast 5:24.67. Tyler Bowles (13), who earned CVST’s Swimmer of the Month for his performance at this meet, flew through the water dropping over 25 seconds in his 500 to go 5:37.22. Logan Ingerick (11) followed up the freestylers with a 2 second drop in the 200 individual medley to go a 2:32.60 earning him fifth overall in the 11-12 age group. Zach Bowles (16) finished up the night with a 5 second drop in the 400 individual medley to go a swift 4:21.31.
 
Saturday Olivia Byrne-Garcia (8) started off with a 2 second drop in the 50 free finishing fast to go 41.72. Sophia “Bubbles” Hasara (12) dropped over 4 seconds in her 100 freestyle splashing into the wall in a 1:11.73. Julia Byrne-Garcia (9) shaved a solid 7.46 seconds off of her 100 backstroke to go a 2:32.22 annihilating her previous best time. Lauren Kenny (13) destroyed her best time by 8 seconds in the 200 individual medley to go a quick 3:07.12. Lauren also swam the fastest relay split in the Senior Girls 400 free relay on Sunday.
 
Sunday Ava Edwards (8) led off with a 2.63 second drop in the 50 breast to go 58.79, going under the minute mark for the first time. Her teammate, Ella Herron (8), sped through the 25 backstroke dropping 1.65 seconds to go a best time of 24.64. Carla Garrett (12) had a 6 second drop in her 100 fly to go an impressive 1:17.73. Mabry Bishop (10) dropped nearly 4 seconds in her 100 breaststroke to go a best time of 1:31.35, earning her another FLAGS cut to add to her agenda this March.
