Ingerick Leads Way Breaking Team Records At Marlins Swim Meet

Last weekend, Carrollwood Village Swim Team (CVST) had their first travel meet of the season. From broken records to swimming events for the first time, the meet in Ocala proved to be representative of the swimmers’ hard work and dedication.
Friday night of the meet was chilly and difficult after a long school day. With events like the 500 freestyle and 400 individual medley, it can be difficult to stay motivated. Senior 2 practice group member, Tyler Bowles (14), started off the evening with a 1.65 second drop in his 400 IM to go a 5:36.82. Following him was Emma Herron (13) dropping 6.9 seconds to go a personal best time of 6:10.52. Brooke Lively (13) and Lauren Kenny (13) swam the event for the first time. Lively swam the 500 freestyle later in the evening dipping close to the 7 minute mark to go a personal best of 7:02.79. Carla Garrett (12) swam a quick 500 shaving nearly 2 seconds off of her best with a final time of 6:46.99. Lauren Kenny (13) had the biggest drop of the night, over 15 seconds faster than her best time to go a speedy 7:31.88.
Saturday morning was a great time to drop for Henry Walz (12), he dropped over 12 seconds in his 50 backstroke and over 20 seconds in his 200 freestyle. Sophia Hasara (12) also had a huge time drop in the 200 freestyle with a 16 second drop achieving a brisk time of 2:52.25. Saturday afternoon was the first opportunity for the younger group of kids on the team to swim. Kaitlyn Labella (9) started them off swimming a blazing fast 100 individual medley in a personal best time of 1:25.79 dropping over 5 seconds. Following her was Emily Groark (10) dropping 3 seconds to go 1:49.77. In the 8&Under 100 freestyle, Jayden Repak (8) dropped 5.71 seconds to go a 1:19.20, Ava Edwards (8) dropped 1.41 to go a 1:35.11, and Ella Herron (7) dropped 10 seconds to go a personal best of 1:46.49.
Sunday was all around a fast day for CVST starting with Bella Salgado swimming the 100 free in a hasty 1:22.61 dropping over 5 seconds. Madison Ratchford swam an impressive 50 Butterfly dropping over 12 seconds to go a best time of 55.69. In the 200 Individual Medley, Sean Kenny (10) dropped over 5 seconds to go a swift 3:14.64 and Savannah Rude (10) dropping over 5 seconds as well to go 3:33.44.
One of the most impressive feats was achieved by Logan Ingerick (10) who ages up into a new age group of competition in the coming weeks. This being his last meet as a 10&Under and already holding a hearty number of Team Records, he decided to suit up and see what other CVST Team Records he could break. Saturday he began by annihilating the 100 freestyle record set by Ryan Reyes in 1996, also coming close to breaking the 1:00 mark. He also set a new record in the 100 medley previously owned by Ben Sheridan also set in 1996. Sunday he went on to destroy the 200 free Record belonging to Greggory Cooke set in 2001 and the 50 back belonging to Brian Horne set in 1996.His swims this weekend earned him the hashtag “#SwimStud” on the CVST twitter page (

Great job to everyone who swam the meet! Improvements are visibly obvious from meet to meet and the times just keep getting faster. Keep setting those goals higher as we move forward to the CVST B Invitational at our home pool November 8th.
