CVST Has Great Gasparilla Meet

The Annual Gasparilla Invitational hosted by TBAY Swim Team at Tampa Preparatory School, February 7-9th, brought CVST some fast swimming and some big barrier breakers early this season:

Senior 2 practice group member, Abby Forman (12) smashed her personal best 100 yard Freestyle time to go 59.95, also her first time under a minute, coming in 4th overall in her age group. Forman was too excited for words after her race, finally accomplishing a goal she had set her sights on earlier this year. Senior 1 practice group member Zack Bowles (15) started off the weekend well swimming the 1000 yard Freestyle in 10:20.55 - over a 30 second drop followed by teammate Daryl Pickerell (15), also of the Senior 1 practice group, dropping 3:23 in his 1650 yard Freestyle earning him the CVST Swimmer of the Month Honors for February.

Kaitlyn Labella (9), of the Silver-Gold practice group, came in first in the 10 and under 100 yard Freestyle going a personal best of 1:17.28 in her first meet as a 9 year old and Madison Ratchford (8), of the Bronze practice group, close behind her placed sixth in the same event going a best time of 1:36.88. Emma Herron (12), of the Silver-Gold practice group, swam a best time of 43.35 in the 11-12 50 yard Breaststroke dropping over 1.5 seconds and her sister, Ella Herron (7) of the Bronze practice group, came close to breaking the 2:00 mark in the 8 and under 100 yard Freestyle swimming a best time of 2:03.04- a whopping 10 second drop from her best time set at the ATAC Invitational in Tallahassee just a month earlier.

We’re looking forward to what our swimmers can accomplish the rest of the season, after seeing such progress this early from all of our athletes. Keep up the hard work and fast swimming!
