The Maxwell Excellence Award is given to honor an outstanding LSC official, by the USA Swimming National Officials Committee, for their contributions to local swimming.  The award is sponsored by Swimming World Magazine and Maxwell Medals.  The Award was presented to CVST's Bob Griffiths last weekend at the Annual Florida Swimming House of Delegates Meetings.  The following was taken from the September 2012 issue of Swimming World Magazine:

In Florida Swimming, there is no one more dedicated or devoted to the sport than Bob Griffiths.  He has been officiating for more than 25 years, beginning with the local YMCA when his daughter, Anna was just an age grouper.  Griffiths currently serves as vice chairman of the LSC's officials committee and can usually be found officiating on the pool deck somewhere in the state just about every weekend.  He is particularly well known for his :gotta-do-it" approach at all swim meets.  He is also know throughout USA Swimming for his tireless work on the successful Official'Tracking System (OTS).  He joined the national officiating committee 10 years ago when it was decided that officials should be taught and mentored on officiating protocols before arriving at a national championship meet.  Griffiths and his fellow committee members soon developed new standards for certification, out of which was born OTS.

Congratulations Bob this great honor, it is well past due and thanks  again for all you do for CVST, Florida Swimming and the rest of USA Swimming.
