CVST Survives Storms & Heat To Swim Well At SPA Meet
CVST trekked across Tampa Bay to Northshore Pool, in St. Petersburg, this weekend for their first big meet of the new swim year. Although the weather in the morning sessions was relatively comfortable, Friday Evening saw 40+ mile an hour winds, that mangled tents and sent them flying while the afternoons on Saturday & Sunday were in the mid 90's with no breeze. Hopefully a farewell to the summer and now we will get some comfortable weather in for the Fall. Even with the heat and distractions, CVST's swimmers came to swim well and that's what they did, finishing 5th out of 17 as a team (

Pulling in the big points for CVST were our following swimmers who finished in the Top 5 for their age group's Overall High Point:
Logan Ingerick (8), 3rd Place in the 8&Under Boys High Point with 28 Points
Abby Forman (10), 3rd Place in the 9-10 Girls High Point with 53 Points
Fitz Rawls (13), 2nd Place in the 13-14 Boys High Point with 70 Points
Daryl Pickerell (14), 5th Place in the 13-15 Boys High Point with 55 Points
Emma Volz (17), 3rd Place in the Senior Womens High Point with 57 Points
Other swimmers had great individual swims like Isabella Bahr (12) who lost her cap in the 1000 Freestyle and still dropped a whopping 68+ seconds in the event; or Anna Bolton (13) who really never swam in a USA Swimming Meet before competing in the 500 and 1000 Freestyles in her first meet; Maddie Eash (9) who dropped over 16 seconds in her 50 Backstroke; Alex Freund (7) dropped over 7.5 seconds in his 25 Breaststroke while big brother Don (11) dropped over 20 in his 50 Breaststroke; Carla Garrett (10) dropped over 14 seconds in her 100 Butterfly and her sister Lillian (13) took over 2 minutes off her 1000 Freestyle; Emma Herron (11) was another swimmer with a big drop in the 1000 Freestyle, chopping off over a minute; Kristine Lee (17) took 10 seconds off her 500 Freestyle on Friday and then almost beat that time in her second 500 of the 1000 Freestyle; Owen Mackenzie (11) took almoist 17 seconds off his 100 Freestyle; Demmi Parrino (12) too just under 30 seconst off her 1000 Freestyle, Drew Selig (10) took almost 5 seconds off her 100 Backstroke; and Corey Stein (17) took over seven seconds off his 200 Breaststroke.
Those were just a few of the big CVST drops that came out of the meet. There were more drops across the board, lots more! So, congratulations to everyone from CVST who swam in the meet on a great job!
