Stein Picks Up Another Zone Cut

Stein Picks Up Another Zone Cut

Day two of the 2011 Florida Swimming Long Course Senior Championships   in the books and CVST had another good day.  Today was the short day for CVST with just one event for each swimmer.  Corey Stein (16) led the way, picking up his second cut in as many days, for the 2011 USA Swimming Southern Zone Senior Championship .  This one came in the 15-16 Boys 200 Meter Freestyle where Stein went a 2:10, lowering his best time by three seconds.  Emma Volz (16) also swam the 200 Freestyle in the 15-16 Girls age group, where she went a 2:16.93.  Following the 200's CVST had abour a 4 1/2 hour break while waiting for their final swim of the day, and it was worth the wait.  Jackie Kenny (15) swam the 400 Meter Individual Medley where she went a 5:50.57, slashing five seconds from her previous best.

Kenny is also running for the Florida Swimming Junior Athlete Representitive to the Florida Swimmming Board of Directors.  The election is held at the meet  tomorrow morning and only registered athletes are allowed to vote.  Volz  is currently the Senior Athlete Representitive to the Florida Swimming Board of Directors.  Good Luck Jackie!

The meet continues tomorrow and runs through Sunday at the Indian River State College Aquatic Center
